Over the past three months, the global industrial sector has experienced a period of high volatility and structural uncertainty, marked by economic deceleration, supply chain reconfiguration, intensive digitalization, and various government responses.

Here's a country-by-country summary:

United States – Industrial Decline and Electoral Pressure

• Drop in manufacturing PMI: it fell for the third consecutive month to 47.8 in July. Companies report lower domestic and external demand, influenced by electoral uncertainty and new trade sanctions on Asian suppliers.

• Pressure for reshoring: the government has announced tax incentives for companies relocating factories from China and Mexico. Sectors like automotive and electronics are already reacting.

Mexico – Nearshoring Advances, but with Mixed Signals

• Nearshoring slowdown: although investments continue in the north of the country, several projects are on hold due to the electoral climate in the U.S. and currency volatility.

• Stable yet strained manufacturing: fell by 0.6% in June, affected by low external demand and rising energy costs. The government is considering strategic subsidies for export sectors.

• Private sector reaction: COPARMEX and Concamin are calling for technical panels to analyze the impact of the peso–dollar exchange rate and logistical delays.
